This 1957 Ford Custom Ranchero is finished in two-tone red and white over red and white vinyl, and powered by a 292ci OHV V8 mated to a two-speed automatic transmission. Equipment includes power disc brakes, steering, and windows as well as air conditioning, fender-mounted side mirrors, Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels, and chrome exhaust tips. The car was refurbished under previous ownership and acquired by its current owner in August 2018. Subsequent service included changing the oil and replacing the power steering pump and hose and the driver-side window. This 300-Series Ranchero is offered at no reserve in Connecticut by the seller on behalf of his father with previous sale, registration, and tax records, removed parts, and a clean Florida title in the owner’s name.
The truck is finished in two-tone Colonial White over Flame Red with a Flame Red roof and features a front-hinged hood, fender-mounted side mirrors, chrome bumpers with a front grille guard, chrome exhaust tips, and a six-foot cargo bed. “Check-mark” side moldings with gold-tone inserts run the length of the car culminating in fins at the rear. The driver-side window was replaced in November 2021.
Chrome 14″ Kelsey-Hayes wire wheels wear Thunderbird-branded three-eared spinners and Coker Classic whitewall tires. A spare is stowed in the cabin behind the seat on the passenger side. The steering is power-assisted, as are brakes, the latter of which have been converted from 11″ drums to discs all around. Service in November 2021 included fitting a rebuilt power-steering pump and a replacement hose. The removed drums are included in the sale.
The cabin features a four-way-adjustable power bench seat that was reupholstered in white vinyl with pleated red inserts as well as matching two-tone door panels and red carpeting. Additional amenities include power windows, SelectAire air conditioning, an electric clock, and a signal-seeking Motorola AM radio with Town and Country strength settings.
A red steering wheel with a chrome horn rings fronts a red- and white-painted dashboard with bright trim, a red dash pad, and a 130-mph horizontal-sweep speedometer flanked by fuel-level and coolant-temperature gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 3k miles, 1k of which were added by the seller. True mileage is unknown.
The 292ci Y-block V8 is equipped with a single Carter carburetor and was rated at 212 horsepower and 297 lb-ft of torque when new. The oil was changed in November 2021.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford-O-Matic two-speed automatic transmission and a 3.56:1 rear end.
