This 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 is finished in Acapulco Blue over black vinyl and is powered by its numbers-matching 302ci V8 backed by a four-speed manual transmission and a 3.91:1 Traction-Lok differential. It was sold new by Main Line Motors of Devon, Pennsylvania, was stored in a New Hampshire barn for decades before being featured on BaT in January 2014, and was acquired by the current owner in 2014. A subsequent mechanical recommissioning included rebuilding the engine, resealing the intake manifold and valve covers, rebuilding the starter and the carburetor, replacing the clutch and pressure plate, resurfacing the flywheel, and updates to the braking and suspension systems. This Boss 302 is now offered by the selling dealer on behalf of the current owner with a Deluxe Marti report, period paperwork, service records since 2014, some spare parts, and a clean Arizona title.
The car is finished in Acapulco Blue (6), and paintwork was performed on the driver-side fender in the 1970s following an impact with a fire hydrant, according to the seller. Features include a front chin spoiler, a blacked-out hood, color-keyed mirrors, black side graphics, and a rear wing. Wear and imperfections are noted along various portions of the body, including corrosion on the lower passenger-side fender and behind rear wheels, as shown in detail in the photo gallery below.
Replacement Goodyear Polyglas GT tires are mounted on 15″ Magnum 500 wheels. As standard, the Boss 302 was delivered with heavy-duty front and rear springs, revised dampers, and power-assisted front disc and rear drum brakes. The brakes were serviced in 2014 with machined rotors and drums, a rebuild of the master cylinder, and replacements for the brake booster, calipers, pads and shoes, rear wheel cylinders, and hardware.
The interior features high-back front seats with black vinyl upholstery (4A) as well as a matching fold-down Sport Deck rear seat. A Hurst shifter is fitted, and shoulder harnesses are provided for the front occupants.
Factory instrumentation consists of a 120-mph speedometer, an 8k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for temperature and fuel level. Sun voltage and oil-pressure gauges are affixed to the steering column. The five-digit odometer shows just under 44k miles, approximately 400 of which were added by the current owner.
The numbers-matching 302-4V Boss V8 featured a four-bolt-main block and was originally assembled with 10.5:1-compression pistons, solid lifters, Boss 302–specific cylinder heads, and a Holley four-barrel carburetor. Factory-rated output was 290 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 290 lb-ft of torque at 4,300 rpm. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a close-ratio four-speed Toploader manual transmission and a Traction-Lok rear axle with a 3.91:1 gear ratio.
The engine stamping includes the digits 196363, which match the vehicle’s serial number.
An invoice totaling just over $28k documents maintenance completed for the owner in July 2014. Service included an engine rebuild, resealing the intake manifold and valve covers, rebuilding the starter and the carburetor, resurfacing the flywheel, multiple fluid changes, and replacement of the following components:
